Welcome back! Today I'd like to share some awesome ideas for keeping the conversation flowing along with your La Crema wine and your guests entertained without ever having to leave your summer dinner party table! I don't know about you, but as much as I love badminton and bocce ball, in the dog days of summer I'd much rather sit, relax, sip some La Crema and play a card game or two with friends.
I was wracking my brain before this dinner party, trying to figure out a way to make sure our guests stayed entertained but didn't get overheated in the crazy Georgia summer temperatures. I was strolling through the dollar store when I came across these little pegboard games that I knew were just perfect! I grabbed two, a football and a golf themed, and started thinking about what other compact table games and activities I could add to the mix. I picked up some cute polka dot bags and labels at Hobby Lobby and placed each activity in a sack, then gathered them all in a gold spraypainted dollar store tin. I set all of the games in the middle of the table for quick and easy access. The extra step of placing them in pretty bags means that you can leave them on the table and they actually become part of your decor!
I also found these mini puzzles and a deck of playing cards. Perfect! The cards gave me the idea of adding some dice so that guests could play yahtzee or other dice games. I couldn't find any loose, though, so I did what any good blogger always does... DIY! Check out my post on the La Crema blog here and find out how to make your very own pretty, custom-colored dice!
Next up... I'm going to teach you how to deal with the heat and bugs. You don't want to miss it!
