Easy Floating Arrangement for Your Next Pool Party!

Have you ever hosted a party somewhere with a pool and had the urge to decorate it somehow? Me too! I love creating floral arrangements, and so this was my solution to being able to put one in a pool. It was really simple to make, and you can even use flowers and plants available at your local Home Depot or grocery store.

Materials:

  • Tray
  • Styrofoam
  • Floral foam
  • Hot glue gun
  • Floral shears
  • Flowers and greenery (I used crotoans, maidens hair ferns, and ranunculus)

Start by placing your floral foam in water and letting it become completely soaked. Then flip your tray upside down and glue the styrofoam on the bottom.

Then, cut your floral foam in half length-wise and place both sides in the tray. Editor's Note: When I first did this project, I originally had glued two layers of styrofoam on the bottom of the tray. But after I placed it in the water, I realized it only needed one. So, that is why in these process photos you will see two layers.

Next up, start placing greenery in low and balanced positions because you don’t want your design to become too top heavy or lopsided, or it will tip over.

Once you have a base of greenery established, place in fun blooms, again keeping them fairly low.

Now place in the water and push it off!
