Dutch Still Life Inspired Wedding Ideas!

This shoot was inspired by my time spent in Paris, France studying the painting techniques of the masters such as the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. He was part of a famous group of painters from the Dutch Golden Era who often painted still lives, and his famous “Girl with a Pearl Earring” is one of my all time favorite works. This iconic painting lent itself well to wedding ideas such as lush still life arrangements with fruit and overflowing tulips from Holland, using the famous Delf Blue color, pearl earrings and boleros, and unique hair accessories such as the girl in the painting wore. We hoped to capture the moodiness of the paintings in this shoot as well as the refined elegance and classic compositions. This shoot was featured in Wedding Nouveau Magazine.

While I now have switched gears from styling wedding and do floral design to blogging at Camp Makery, I still wanted to share one of my favorite projects with you from my days as a wedding stylist! Big shout out to our blogger Chelsea Michell for these amazing film photographs! So many amazing vendors collaborated on this - I feel so lucky to have had my time working in the wedding world with truly the best of the best vendors there are.
