4 Halloween Candy Infused Liqueurs

Yes yes, I know I am usually the health posts contributor! But for today, in alignment with the beautiful Harvest Moon, I am just gonna keep it real! In the fall, I have at least 5 girlfriends that have birthdays.  And in this season of life, most gfs can buy what they need/want for themselves.  So Planning B-day gifts can become a challenge.  I decided this year to make something seasonal..... Hence, (drumroll please) the Halloween candy infused liquors, and 2 Minute Halloween Wine Bottle Toppers!

Upside: These yummy infusions have not been made on Duck Dynasty yet.  These yummy infusions have not been made on Real Wives of Orange County, or any other reality show yet.

So we shall proceed with a trendy, kitschy, DIY guaranteed to make your Besties sip and giggle. You're welcome, in advance! Here are four recipes to get your Fright Night concoctions started!

Infusing licquor to make your own yummy custom licqueur is so easy; basically you just add candy and the licquor and let it soak awhile!

Ok, let's get started! 

1.  Candy Corn and Bacardi Gold Rum:

  • 1 16 oz mason jar
  • 2 oz candy corn
  • 2 cup gold rum-whose quality is based on budget,sentiment,availability,personal preference, etc

To Infuse: Layer as much candy corn as you want in the bottom of your jar. Pour in your 2 cups of rum.  Let it steep about 36 hours, then strain out any stubborn remains. 

To Mix: You can try coconut milk (healthy smoothie points?), or Angostura bitters to cut the edge. I'm not going to lie though, when I gave it out at the besties' birthday lunch, they literally we're getting out the straws to sip for 5 pm-somewhere! Enough said.

 

2.  Hot Tamales and Vodka:

  • 1 16 oz mason jar
  • 2 c. Tito's vodka if you really loooove them.  Lower shelf brand if they are for a frenemy.
  • 1-2 mini boxes of Hot tamales

To Infuse: Layer the bottom of your mason jar with the candy, about 12-15.  Add 2 cups of vodka. Cap tightly. 10 hours later your infusion is ready!  It should be hot pink!  Strain the dregs from the bottom. 

To Mix:  Try with anything fruity, like orange juice, or lemon lime soda/water.

 

3.  Hershey's Milk Chocolate and Maker's Mark Bourbon:

  • 1 16 oz mason jar
  • 2 snack size Hershey bars
  • 2 cups Whiskey of your choice, based on how many times this person has dried your tears!

To Infuse: Layer the 2 candy bars on bottom of mason jar. Pour in whiskey. Let steep for 24 hours.

To Mix:  Muddle a few mint leaves in the bottom of the glass. Add ice. Add your amazing chocolate bourbon... The smiles on their faces say it all.

 

4.  Junior Mints and Lunazul Tequila:

  • 1 16 oz mason jar
  • 2 mini boxes of Junior Mints
  • 2 cups tequila-your pick mixology master

To Infuse: Cover the bottom of your jar with a little pile of Junior Mints. Pour over tequila. Check it between 10-20 hours later. Strain remaining candy out.  The longer you leave it, the more minty it will taste, and might overwhelm the chocolate.

To Mix: Try it in iced coffee, or serve with grapefruit soda/water.
